Getting a porcelain crown usually takes two visits to our office. In the first visit, we prepare your tooth and take a mold. This mold is sent to a lab where they make your custom crown. We’ll put a temporary crown on your tooth to protect it while you wait. 

The second visit happens about two weeks later. During this appointment, we’ll remove the temporary crown and fit your new porcelain crown. Our dentists take care to make sure the fit is perfect and comfortable for you. The whole process, from start to finish, typically takes about two to three weeks.

Do porcelain crowns stain?

Good news – porcelain crowns are resistant to staining. Unlike natural teeth, they don’t absorb color from food and drinks. This means your crown should stay the same color it was when we first put it in.
